Anaerobic Digesters

A completely closed system (oxygen-free) that biologically treats waste with naturally occurring organisms.

Anaerobic digestion is typically for a larger scale application, and has a better control for the environment. Aquastore tanks can be used for Mesophyllic Digestion or Thermophyllic Digestion and also come along with a variety of pressurized roof options.

Mesophyllic Digestion – Anaerobic digestion process, normally between 35-40 °C (94-104 °F).

Thermophyllic Digestion – Anaerobic digestion process at elevated temperature, normally between 60-80°C (140-176°F)

Oxygen

Absent

By-products

Valuable methane and nutrient filled sludge

Odour

Controlled in sealed digester

Concentration of Waste Water

Preferred for higher concentrations

“Footprint” of holding tank

Smaller tanks required, typical height-to-diameter ratio 1:1

Speed of Digestion Process

Faster (controlled environment)

Toxicity of Organic Waste

Reduction of toxic components

Mesophyllic
Thermophyllic
Temperature Range 35-40°C (50-104°F)
60-80°C (140-176°F)
Methane Production Lower, due to slower decomposition Greater, due to higher temperatures
